Francisco Dias Ferreira dos Santos (Porto, January 16, 1873 – Bagé, June 17, 1937) was a Portuguese film director, actor, film producer, and entrepreneur. He was the founder of Guarany Fábrica de Fitas Cinematográficas, in Pelotas, the first studio built specifically for cinema in Brazil. The studio produced the short film Os Óculos do Vovô (Grandpa's Glasses), considered the oldest Brazilian fiction film with fragments still preserved. Santos still plays the main character in the film, the grandfather whose glasses are painted by his mischievous grandson. (Wikipedia)
