Benjamin Doerksen is an award-winning American filmmaker and director known for his visually compelling storytelling and technical precision. Currently based in Southern California, Doerksen has quickly established himself as a rising talent in the independent circuit, earning national recognition for his ability to blend poignant narrative themes with high-caliber production value.
Raised in Arizona, Doerksen’s passion for cinema began at Verrado High School, where his early projects garnered immediate critical attention. He later moved to California to further his craft at Azusa Pacific University, specializing in cinematic arts.
Doerksen’s breakthrough came with the short film Project-182, which earned him a National Student Production Award from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS). He followed this success with a prolific run in student competition circuits, securing four Rocky Mountain Emmy Student Production Awards.
Currently, Doerksen is directing the highly anticipated film Chasing Dust, a project co-created with Joao Castello. The production, which features a diverse cast including Brian Peveler and Hannah Chandler, has generated significant buzz for its ambitious scope and "chilling" narrative sequences. In 2025, he also expanded his industry experience through an internship at Kingdom Story Company, contributing to a studio environment known for faith-based and inspirational storytelling.
